Darrell has lived in Horseshoe Bay for 44 years. He was a golf pro when he first came to Horseshoe Bay and worked at Slickrock gol f course when it was the only course at Horseshoe Bay. He entered the real estate business in 1974 and owned Lighthouse Realty and Appraisa ls until 1988. That is when he took over the reigns as broker of Horseshoe Bay Corp for Wayne Hurd. His hobbies include golf, fishing, gami ng, and travel.
Darrell has been married to his wife, Kay, for 30+ years, they have three wonderful children. The oldest son works in Marble Falls and lives in Horseshoe Bay. His middle son is the Chief Clerk of the Texas House of Representatives in Austin and lives in Austin with his wife Juli, and their two beautiful daughters, Carrington and Blythe. His daughter, April, is the CFO at Andrew Harper Travel in Austin and is married to her high school sweetheart Blake McAlister and they have a bouncing baby boy, Kyle.

Mike Butler discovered the Texas Hill Country while studying at UT. He started buying local property in the 1980's. Then in 2001 he teamed up with Westway Custom Builders, building custom homes in Horseshoe Bay until 2003. Received invaluable experience, especially in helping clients with home and real estate matters! He always enjoyed sales, and in 2004 started working for the developer of Horseshoe Bay at Horseshoe Bay Corp. Mike is a multi–million–dollar producer and a founder of Escondido, a private lakeside golf preserve. He also enjoys the amenities at Horseshoe Bay Resort, and has a vested interest in the Jack Nicklaus Summit Rock development. His hobbies are golf, music, good movies, great food, and travel when time allows. He supports Boys and Girls Club and the local Helping Center. He married the love of his life, Marilyn, in 1971. They support the SPCA , the Dogs for Soldiers program, and Wounded Warriors. Most of all, he enjoys making lifetime friends and helping clients find their dream homes!!
On Thanksgiving of 1988, I made one of the best decisions of my life. I moved to Horseshoe Bay and began my real estate career. The company I joined , Horseshoe Bay Corp, was founded by Wayne Hurd, who developed Horseshoe Bay with his cousin, Norman, and remains active today. I primarily sell and specialize in Horseshoe Bay, but I sell anywhere within the Highland Lakes chain. I have been privileged to work with some of the best builders in Horseshoe Bay. Since m aterials and styles are ever–changing, this has helped me stay on the cutting edge of market trends. This "Hill Country" market is very excitin g and requires a 24/7 commitment to keep up with what's here today and planned for the future. G. A. Smith and his wife Rita, moved to Horseshoe Bay in 2007 from McAllen, Texas where G. A. has been actively involved in Real Estate since 1972. He formed his own company, G. A. Smith Properties, Inc., in 1978 and enjoyed a life–long career in commercial and residential construction and land development. He and his wife also owned and managed/leased office buildings. G. A. continues his career in real estate in Horseshoe Bay as an active broker/agent with Horseshoe Bay Corp.
Real Estate has been my life for the past thirty–five years, the last thirty of this period have been spent at Horseshoe Bay. How lucky can you get! I was working as a realtor in Corpus Christi for a land development company when I got a call to come to work in Horseshoe Bay. At first I resisted, since I had gotten very comfortable in Corpus; however, the calling persisted and finally I was picked up by plane – I could not resist! Upon landing at the Horseshoe Bay Airport, I was totally surprised by the topography of the land: hills, trees and water – it reminded me of the landscape I had left behind in Germany. Being used to the sandy dunes of Padre Island, I did not know Texas had a Hill Country and I was very impressed! Of course, I switched jobs; In the process I totally overlooked the fact that there were only 73 permanent inhabitants in Horseshoe Bay – quite in contrast to Corpus Christi! Well, needless to say I was very lonesome and decided to buy a bottle of wine to assuage my pain. Surely, this was one of the situations which drives one to drink. Imagine my surprise to find Marble Falls to be in a dry county and no wine was to be found anywhere (it isn't any more thank goodness!) There had to be another solution and it came in the form of tennis. I hadn't played since I left Europe, but I was brave enough to give it a try. I am glad I did, and to this day tennis is my favorite leisure time activity. Well, that is not quite right: my favorite activity is real estate and I hope it will remain so for a long time to come!
Linda is a 3rd generation realtor and a native of the Texas Hill Country. She has been enjoying Horseshoe Bay since it was first developed. Linda has been selling Horseshoe Bay Property for the last 15 years where previously she specialized in ranch sales. I have been active in the real estate business in the Highland Lakes area since I moved here in 1997. A native of New Mexico, my real estate roots developed from being part of a real estate family. My mother and father had their own real estate business which involved many real estate discussions around the dinner table, where my fascination with the business began. I graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a Bachelor degree in business and real estate. After graduation, I received my real estate broker’s license in New Mexico and have never had an interest in any other field.
I have three grown sons and love living, promoting and being part of this community. I raised my family in a waterfront home on Lake LBJ and specialize in Lake LBJ waterfront properties as well as properties in the surrounding communities.
